Trump Cancels Third Night of Iran Strikes Amid Unconfirmed Talks
Well, this has become something of a stand-up comedy routine.
President Trump announced on Thursday the cancellation of a third night of planned bombings against Iran, citing progress in unconfirmed negotiations with Tehran. Writing on Truth Social, Trump claimed that discussions—involving the US, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and others—had been approved at Iran’s highest level. However, Iran’s Foreign Ministry denied a final deal, stating that Washington keeps shifting positions and that Tehran will not compromise on red lines.
Trump had previously threatened to “take” Iran’s Kharg Island, a major oil hub, comparing a potential ground operation to US actions in Venezuela. While a naval blockade remains, experts warn that any assault on the island would risk heavy US casualties. Earlier strikes formed part of a broader US-Israeli bombing campaign from February to April.
By hanging on to this stupid war, this administration fails the US in so many ways.
