Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has expressed deep concern over renewed armed clashes along the Thai-Cambodian border, offering his nation’s support to de-escalate tensions.

The fighting, which has resulted in at least one Thai soldier killed and several wounded, risks unraveling years of careful diplomatic work to stabilize relations. According to Thai military reports, the conflict intensified with Cambodian forces attacking Thai positions and firing rockets, prompting retaliatory airstrikes targeting Cambodian military infrastructure.

PM Anwar has urgently called for maximum restraint, open communication, and the use of established mechanisms to prevent a further dangerous escalation between the two Southeast Asian neighbors.
