Another $200 Billion Dollars Down the War Drain

Like the plant in old movie “the little shop of horrors” the Pentagon screams: “FEED ME !”

The Pentagon is reportedly seeking an additional $200 billion from Congress to fund the open-ended war with Iran, a conflict Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth admits has no set timeline for conclusion. This staggering request comes on top of the Defense Department’s already massive $800 billion annual budget and extra funding from recent tax-cut legislation.

While military leaders argue it takes money to “kill bad guys,” the spending faces growing scrutiny as a potentially wasteful use of funds desperately needed for domestic priorities. Both fiscal conservatives and Democrats are balking, demanding detailed military strategy before approving what would be a blank check for an unauthorized conflict.

Critics point to pressing healthcare and infrastructure needs as more important investments for American taxpayers than an endless war whose scope remains undefined and whose endpoint rests solely with the president.
