Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty, held talks in Moscow on Friday, focusing on bilateral relations and pressing international issues, particularly the Middle East crisis. Following the discussions, Lavrov stated that both nations support an “immediate cessation of hostilities and a return to the political and diplomatic process.”

He also warned that a UN Security Council draft resolution submitted by Bahrain concerning the Strait of Hormuz could undermine potential negotiations or be used to “retroactively legitimize the aggression against Iran.” Abdelatty emphasized the urgent need for dialogue, noting that “everyone is losing, the world is losing and the region is losing.” The meeting underscored a shared Russian-Egyptian push for de-escalation and diplomatic solutions amid growing regional tensions.
