Deadly Raid on Burkina Faso Village
Suspected jihadists killed at least 12 civilians in an attack on the village of Dourtenga in Burkina Faso, according to local sources. Among the dead were nine members of the Volunteers for the Defence of the Fatherland (VDP), a civilian force supporting the army. The assailants also looted and set fire to shops during the hour-long assault, prompting residents to flee. The Al-Qaeda-linked JNIM group has claimed responsibility for recent attacks in the region. Although Burkina Faso’s military government asserts it has regained control of significant territory, experts warn the violence has continued to escalate, with tens of thousands killed since 2015.
Burkina Faso has cut ties with and expelled all Western influence. President Traoré is building an exemplary African country. After everything the West tried against him—and failed—we now see terrorist attacks. That is very suspicious
