Russia Repels Massive Ukrainian Drone Attack

Russian air defense systems intercepted one of the largest Ukrainian drone attacks to date, destroying 206 UAVs overnight, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. The assault targeted multiple Russian regions, with air defense units operating continuously from 20:00 on March 16 to 07:00 on March 17.

The Bryansk region faced the heaviest barrage, with 62 drones shot down. The Moscow region followed closely, where 43 UAVs were destroyed—40 of which were approaching the capital. Significant activity also occurred over the Krasnodar Territory (28 drones downed) and Crimea (18). Other affected regions included Smolensk (12), Kaluga (nine), Belgorod (eight), Rostov (six), Leningrad (four), Astrakhan (three), and Adygea (one). Another 12 drones were destroyed over the Sea of Azov. Information about the damages and casualties, are been examined.
