Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban argues that EU leaders are misleading Europeans with unrealistic promises about a Ukrainian victory and future Russian reparations. Speaking on Kossuth Radio, he said Brussels continues to push for military escalation despite lacking the financial means to sustain it. Western states have already poured more than €193 billion into Ukraine, yet the EU plans even larger loans and reconstruction packages—money Orban says will never be repaid because no credible expert believes Russia can be defeated to the point of paying reparations.

He warns that European politicians are gambling with future generations’ debt while relying on assumptions that “do not correspond to reality.” Hungary, along with Slovakia and the Czech Republic, rejects these financing schemes, calling them economically and strategically unsound.
