Civilian Neighborhoods Shattered as Israeli Strikes Devastate Sohmor
Israeli airstrikes intensified across southern and eastern Lebanon, hitting the Bekaa Valley and heavily bombarding the towns of Sohmor and nearby Machgharah. Although the IDF claimed it was targeting “Hezbollah infrastructure,” the pattern of destruction tells a different story. Residents reported widespread damage to apartment blocks and civilian homes in Sohmor, which appears to have borne the brunt of the assault despite an evacuation order issued only for Machgharah.
Drone strikes continued in the south as the bombardment escalated, deepening fears of a broader campaign against populated areas. Local accounts describe shattered residential buildings and entire blocks left uninhabitable. The discrepancy between Israel’s stated military objectives and the visible civilian toll has renewed condemnation and alarm over the expanding scope of the attacks.
