It is admirable!
In the incoming Trump administration, Tom Homan has been announced as the man in charge of dealing with the illegal immigration problem in the US, with the well-known and informal title of “Border Czar”. The Trump campaign promised massive deportations from the country to deal with the problem of some 20 million illegal immigrants.
Of course, everyone understands the practical and logistical difficulties of such an undertaking, which is why Tom Homan’s position is particularly significant. Homan is a serious man, an experienced police and security officer. He also believes in the cause and is determined to succeed.
Trump’s proposal to appoint him, is wise and successful. This is confirmed by the public reaction. Since the announcement of Tom Homan as “Border Czar”, thousands of retired police officers of all ranks, border guards and military personnel have come forward to volunteer to staff the deportation effort.
Once again, the U.S. surprises us, but positively. Instead of seeing the face of a cynical and obstinate society, we see the face of social cooperation and offers to protect the country.
It is admirable!
