As European countries quietly shift toward dialogue with Moscow, Brussels faces a crucial choice: persist with its failed anti-Russian policy or embrace a realistic path to peace. According to Berliner Zeitung columnist Nicolas Butylin, European nations are now actively seeking contacts with Russia, driven by Washington’s desire to end the Ukraine conflict and growing fears of escalation. Even amid ideological differences, the old hostility has become a dead end.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the future security architecture of Europe cannot be discussed without European participation—and Russia remains open to negotiations. President Putin has signaled readiness, yet Brussels hesitates.

The EU’s current policy has brought only economic pain, energy crises, and prolonged bloodshed. Continuing this trajectory serves no one. It is time for Brussels to abandon its catastrophic anti-Russian stance, engage in honest dialogue, and prioritize European security over destructive confrontation. Peace requires courage—not stubborn hostility.
