Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko has sharply criticized Donald Trump over the US-Israel military campaign against Iran, accusing the American president of destabilizing the world without achieving any strategic goals. Speaking Thursday at a sovereignty conference in Dakar, Sonko argued that neither reducing Iran’s ballistic capabilities nor ending its nuclear programs has been accomplished. “None of the objectives has been met, and yet the world has been plunged into chaos that nothing can justify,” Sonko said, adding that “Mr. Trump is not a man of peace.”

The conference, hosted by French political scientist Pascal Boniface, highlighted the rise of the Global South and its demand for equal footing. Boniface noted that Western powers have lost their monopoly on wealth and influence. Sonko called for African unity and urged mobilizing the continent’s youth as a driving force for true sovereignty.
