Former National Counterterrorism Center Director Joe Kent has accused the FBI of failing to properly investigate the assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk last fall. Kent told Public that the bureau “was pretty forceful in saying we couldn’t investigate further,” adding he saw no action taken.

Tyler Robinson confessed to the killing in messages to his romantic partner. Kent’s allegations of suppressed evidence and an inadequate probe may now aid Robinson’s defense. Kent acknowledged he was repeatedly warned he might be called as a witness and could face repercussions, stating, “If it gets us to the truth… that’s obviously the risk I’m taking.” Attorneys for both sides declined to comment.
