Across Latin America and among major global powers, reactions to the U.S. action in Venezuela have varied sharply, reflecting deep political divides in the region.

  1. Brazil
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva issued a forceful condemnation of the U.S. strikes and the capture of Nicolás Maduro, stating that the bombing of Venezuelan territory “crosses an unacceptable line” and constitutes a “grave affront to Venezuelan sovereignty.”
  2. Mexico
President Claudia Sheinbaum firmly rejected the unilateral military action, calling it a “clear violation” of the UN Charter—specifically Article 2, which prohibits the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity of a state.
  3. Colombia
The Colombian government opposed any unilateral military intervention that could endanger civilians or escalate regional tensions. It reaffirmed its commitment to sovereignty and non‑intervention, mobilized forces along the border in anticipation of possible refugee flows, and emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution.
  4. Argentina
President Javier Milei, an ideological ally of President Trump, enthusiastically welcomed the outcome.
  5. Chile
President Gabriel Boric—who has previously criticized Maduro’s human rights record—expressed “concern and condemnation,” distancing himself from both U.S. military action and Maduro’s authoritarianism.
  6. Cuba
President Miguel Díaz‑Canel denounced the operation as a “criminal U.S. attack” and an act of “state terrorism” against the Venezuelan people and the region. He called for an urgent international response to defend Latin America as a “zone of peace.”
  7. Bolivia and Nicaragua
Both governments echoed strong denunciations of what they described as U.S. “imperial aggression.”

Also, as expected, Russia, China and India have condemned the US attack with strong language. We dont report the E.U. reaction, as it is well known that they don’t have an opinion of their own…
