Dark winds over the continent…

Africa is in turmoil:

  1. Maroua [capital of the Far North region in northern Cameroon] is paralysed by a dangerous “ghost town” protest. Merchants face explicit threats, including arson, forcing closures. Without security, they helplessly watch their goods rot. The city is at a standstill, instilling widespread fear.
  2. The UN is alarmed by deadly election protests in Tanzania. Credible sources report security forces are using lethal, disproportionate force, killing many. An internet blackout and arbitrary detentions further exacerbate the dangerous situation.
  3. Sudan: Following El-Fasher’s capture, the RSF’s arrest of one abusive fighter belies a far greater danger. Credible UN reports detail widespread executions, a “kill box” preventing escape, and ethnically targeted killings, creating the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.
