Iran has reportedly delivered a new proposal to the United States, aiming to reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz and delay nuclear talks until a later stage. According to Axios, the plan was transmitted via Pakistani mediators amid a diplomatic stalemate and divisions within Iran’s leadership over nuclear concessions.

The proposal focuses on resolving the crisis over the strait and the US blockade, suggesting an extended ceasefire or a permanent end to the war. Nuclear negotiations would only commence after the strait is reopened and the blockade lifted. President Donald Trump is set to meet with his national security team to discuss the impasse and next steps.

The US and Israel launched a military operation against Iran on February 28. After a two-week ceasefire, talks in Islamabad failed to yield a long-term solution. The US imposed a naval blockade on April 13.
