President Trump announced a two-week suspension of U.S. bombing against Iran, declaring a “double sided CEASEFIRE” on Truth Social. The halt, brokered through Pakistani leadership, is contingent on Iran opening the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed that if U.S. and Israeli attacks cease, Tehran will stop defensive operations and allow safe passage through the strait in coordination with its armed forces.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council hailed a “historic victory,” claiming the U.S. accepted Tehran’s ten-point peace proposal. The plan includes ending all regional conflict, lifting U.S. sanctions, and establishing a fee-based transit mechanism for the strait, with revenues funding reconstruction. Trump described Iran’s proposal as a “workable basis” for negotiation. The move de-escalates earlier threats from Trump, who had warned that a “whole civilization will die” if no deal was reached. The two-week window aims to finalize a long-term peace agreement.
