Iran – US Conclude 2nd Round of Indirect Nuclear Talks in Geneva
The second round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States concluded in Geneva, hosted by Oman. The Iranian delegation, led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, insisted on retaining Tehran’s uranium enrichment program and called for the lifting of all sanctions. The US delegation reportedly included special envoy Steve Witkoff.
Following the talks, both sides described the atmosphere as “serious” and the discussions as constructive, reaching an understanding on several general principles for a potential nuclear deal. They agreed to hold a third round after consulting with their respective capitals. A potential agreement could reportedly involve US access to Iran’s mineral resources. Meanwhile, US Senator Lindsey Graham noted that a final decision on a potential military scenario regarding Iran would depend on the outcome of this negotiation process.
