Fung Wong Typhoon Smashes Taiwan
Based on reports from Taiwan’s Central News Agency, Typhoon Fung Wong has caused significant disruption and injury, with the number of people injured exceeding 50. The storm has brought torrential rainfall, particularly impacting Yilan County, where totals have reached extreme levels between 724.5 mm and 1,061.5 mm over 24 hours.
The severe weather has resulted in widespread consequences, including floods in 25 districts and power cuts affecting nearly 6,000 households. Transport has been severely disrupted, with the Taiwan Railway Corporation suspending several train services and approximately 100 ferry crossings being canceled.
The situation highlights the typhoon’s substantial impact on infrastructure and public safety across the region.
