The incumbent Brazilian President Lula was convicted of money laundering and corruption in the Operation Car Wash context, after which he spent a total of 580 days in prison. He attempted to run in the 2018 Brazilian presidential election but was disqualified under Brazil’s Ficha Limpa law. He was convicted again in February 2019 and released from prison the following November. His two convictions were nullified by the Supreme Federal Court in 2021.

Now Judge Alexandre de Moraes, the Supreme Federal Court Chief, orders arrest of Brazil’s former President Jair Bolsonaro, reflecting ongoing tensions from the 2022 election and the January 8, 2023, riots in Brasília, where Bolsonaro supporters stormed government buildings, an event documented by the “January 8 Files” revealing alleged illegal surveillance by Moraes’ task force.

Thus, the Brazilian economy is manipulated by the continent’s big brother, against the interests of the Brazilian people.

It is all “a BRICS game.”
