Japanese authorities are investigating the death of a Russian woman in Osaka, the Russian Consulate General in Osaka confirmed to TASS. “We have contacted the police, an investigation is underway,” the consulate stated, adding that it remains in close contact with law enforcement.

Earlier reports from Japanese media revealed that the body of a 50-year-old Russian woman, identified as Elena Ito, was discovered in her apartment. She had visible signs of trauma, including bruises and beatings, prompting police to consider murder as a possible cause of death.

According to local sources, Ito’s estranged husband—also a Russian national—alerted authorities after being unable to reach her for several days. Upon visiting her apartment, he found her deceased. Investigators noted no signs of theft, and the door was locked, deepening the mystery.

The case has drawn attention from both Japanese and Russian officials as details remain unclear. The consulate has pledged full cooperation to ensure a thorough inquiry. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
