Flash-news:

On New Year’s Eve in the US, lightning hit a bunch of well-known landmarks at the same time. No damage reported, but people evidently saw it as a “sign” opposite to the aurora borealis which unexpectedly lit up the New Year’s sky in the European regions of Russia (!?)

There’s some pretty wild footage of a thunderstorm that hit Washington and New York on New Year’s Eve going around online right now. In Washington, lightning hit the Capitol, right into the dome of the US Congress building on Capitol Hill. Also, minutes after, lightning hit the top of the George Washington Monument. The obelisk is 169 meters high, making it the largest in the world and the tallest structure in Washington.

Additional, in New York, lightning hit the Empire State Building, a 102-story skyscraper that’s 381 meters tall and is on the list of US National Historic Monuments.

A lot of people were pretty happy about this, thinking it was a sign that Donald Trump would be back in the Oval Office.

But some people think it’s actually a warning to the US, since the aurora borealis showed up over Russia.

Let’s hope for the best…
