Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has declared that the Strait of Hormuz will be closed only to nations violating Iran’s borders, framing threats against Iran as acts of desperation. His remarks follow a joint US-Israeli military operation on February 28 that struck major Iranian cities and killed key leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran’s retaliatory strikes targeted Israeli sites and US bases across the region. In response, a senior IRGC commander warned that the strategic waterway—critical to global oil shipments—would be shut to shipping due to the attacks. Pezeshkian emphasized that such aggression only strengthens Iran’s national unity.
