Responding to a 20-point proposal from former President Donald Trump, Hamas has agreed to release all remaining Israeli hostages and transfer Gaza’s administration to an independent Palestinian committee. The group also expressed readiness to enter negotiations for a lasting peace.

In return, Trump has publicly called on Israel to “immediately stop the bombing of Gaza” to facilitate the safe return of the hostages. This development follows Trump’s threat that “all hell” would be unleashed if Hamas refused his deal.

While Hamas has accepted the framework, a final agreement is uncertain. A major sticking point is post-war governance, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has previously rejected the involvement of the Palestinian Authority, a key part of the proposed deal. The world now watches to see if Israel will halt its offensive.
