Lavrov on Tomahawks…
“If the US believe that Ukraine is a responsible nation that will use Tomahawks responsibly, that would be surprising to me.”
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated that the potential provision of US Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine remains unresolved. He suggested this indecision likely stems from European pressure on Washington, which is demonstrating consideration for its allies’ opinions.
Lavrov expressed doubt that a final decision has been made.
He further claimed he would be surprised if the US considered Ukraine a “responsible” state worthy of such advanced weaponry, noting Tomahawks are supplied selectively. Lavrov also cited conflicting remarks from US officials, contrasting pro-Ukraine stances with others advising acceptance of the current territorial reality.
Despite the ongoing debate, he concluded that the Kremlin is confident any deployment of Tomahawks would not alter the fundamental military equation in the conflict.
