Following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, Israel has intensified its military actions in Syria, launching hundreds of strikes. Recent Israeli drone attacks south of Damascus killed six Syrian army officers, targeting positions near al-Kiswah. Concurrently, Israel has expanded its occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights by seizing the demilitarized buffer zone, violating a 1974 agreement.

Syria accuses Israel of sending soldiers to control a border area near Mount Hermon, establishing intelligence facilities to advance “expansionist” plans. This aligns with Prime Minister Netanyahu’s vision of a “Greater Israel,” a concept condemned by a coalition of Arab and Islamic states as a violation of international law.

The operations follow recent sectarian violence in Suwayda, which Israel cited as a pretext for strikes.
