Van Hollen or Van Idiot ?
Democrats in office still haven’t understand who is running this country now…
Recently, a protest outside the Capitol saw Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen leading chants against Elon Musk while defending USAID amidst criticisms of its budget allocations, particularly regarding foreign aid. Despite USAID’s role in providing essential assistance to needy countries, public sentiment remains skeptical about foreign aid, with a majority of Americans believing the government spends too much in this area. This skepticism is particularly pronounced among working-class voters, a demographic that has shifted support away from Democrats towards Trump. While Democrats defend USAID, they fail to articulate their priorities or propose reforms, making their stance an elitist one. Instead, Democrats should focus on addressing domestic needs, as many voters prioritize local concerns over foreign aid, and approach foreign assistance with a reformative mindset to regain political strength.
Public opinion strongly favors reducing foreign aid, with 69% believing the U.S. spends too much and to many funds are relocated to impostors or their front NGO’s.
Voters are more supportive of spending on domestic programs than on foreign aid, highlighting a need for Democrats to align their messaging with public priorities.
What political consequences might arise from the Democrats’ defense of USAID?
Defending USAID without addressing voter concerns could reinforce perceptions of Democrats as an elite party, potentially alienating working-class voters who feel their needs are overlooked.
I have a good chant for Van Hollen:
“Van Hollen, Van Hollen stop defending what is stolen”…
