DEMOCRACY : THE TRUTH

Because we are tired of lies and because this lie has no short legs but very tall… Because it is one thing to be well-intentioned and another to be uninformed and stupid… Because democracy was born in Greece and has nothing to do with the trans democracy of our “allies”…  Because enough is enough with your hypocrisy and because I am trying very hard to remain polite and not start you in “French” read below who are the democrats you support like chickens in a coop…

Let ‘s remember a typical episode that shows how the American “allies” perceive the Greek ethnic rights and democracy, which they use as a candy word whenever it suits them.

The Prime Minister, George Papandreou, visited the United States (June 1964) for talks on the Cyprus issue with the American President, Lyndon Johnson. The Greek prime minister did not accept the American proposal of the “union” of Cyprus with Greece, but with the cantonization of the island, the creation of a large Turkish military base on the island and the concession of Kastelorizos to Turkey.

In his communication with the Greek ambassador in Washington, Alexandros Matsas, who tried to explain to him that no Greek Parliament would be able to ratify such a plan and that the Greek Constitution does not allow any Greek government to grant Greek territory, note the dialogue:

“Johnson: Then listen to me, Mr. Ambassador. I will fuck your Parliament and your Constitution! America is an elephant. Cyprus is a flea. And Greece is a flea. If these two fleas continue to itch the elephant, the elephant can suck them up with its proboscis!

Matsas: I will forward your views to Prime Minister Mr. Papandreou, but I am sure of the Greek answer. Greece is a democracy. The prime minister cannot oppose the wishes of the Parliament.

Johnson: I will tell you what answer I will give, if I get that kind of answer from your prime minister. Who does he think he is? I can’t have a second De Gaulle at my feet. We pay a lot of American dollars to the Greeks, Mr. Ambassador. If your prime minister talks to me about Democracy, Parliament and the Constitution, then he, the Parliament and his Constitution may not last long! “

PS: The dialogue is quoted in the book by Philip Deane (Gerasimos Tsigantes), ‘I should have died’, New York, 1977.

Johnson’s words are also quoted in Richard Clogg’s well-known book, “A Brief History of Greece”, p. 169, “Mirror” publications, Athens, 1995

PS: And before some claim that these were isolated incidents of the past, we remind you of the “wonderful” Ms. Nuland when as Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs at the US State Department, and with Geoffrey R. Pyatt, US Ambassador in Kiev, they are discussing on the phone who they want to install as opposition leader to form a new government, and Pyatt tells her who the EU would like. Nuland says ‘ Fuck the EU ‘ on the phone and the US ambassador replies ‘ exactly ‘. Nuland, of course, apologized when the audio leaked…

PS: The issue of Cyprus regarding the cantonment and presence of the Turkish army, as raised by the “ally” America, how much it really differs from the demand for free access and presence of the Italian army in 1940?

After all, the landscape of alliances is so cloudy, like a British fog…
